Founders
Mathias Craig, Executive Director and Chairman of the Board: Mathias Craig started blueEnergy as a nonprofit corporation in late 2003. He provides the organization with administrative, programmatic and fundraising leadership. Mathias has over seven years of involvement in wind energy and has significant living experience throughout Latin America. He has spent a considerable amount of time in Nicaragua and has strong ties to the peoples of the Caribbean Coast. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley and a Master of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Mathias is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
Lâl Marandin, President of blueEnergy France and Member of the Board: Lâl Marandin led the organization’s business development operations in Nicaragua in 2004 as Associate Director before joining blueEnergy’s Board of Directors in 2005. He is a co-founder and the acting President of blueEnergy France (ER&DE). Lâl was a commanding officer in the Paris Fire Brigade (France), has worked as an advisor in the economic division of the French Embassy in Mexico, and joined the French Air Force in 2002. He currently works in the Advanced Studies Department of the French Department of Defense. He holds a Master of Science in Civil and Aeronautical Engineering from the “Ecole Polytechnique” in Paris and National Air and Space School in Toulouse, France, and a Master of Science in Heat Transfer and Fluid Dynamics from the University of Toulouse, France. Lâl is fluent in French, English and Spanish and proficient in German an Mandarin.
Guillaume Craig, Director of blueEnergy in Nicaragua: Guillaume Craig manages all of blueEnergy's operations in Nicaragua and has lived on-site, in Bluefields, Nicaragua since the end of 2004. Guillaume has long worked in the services industry, managing and expanding a very successful coffee bar on the campus of the University of Oregon before moving to France to work in the bar industry. He leveraged his multi-cultural and multi-lingual background to gain the management position at Ayer's Rock, quickly turning it into one of the most popular, and profitable, bars/night clubs in France. In the last three years Guillaume set his sights on the renewable energy industry and has applied his management and shop skills towards blueEnergy's project work in Nicaragua. Guillaume is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
