Depth
First we research what solutions are out there, what has worked, what has not, and why. We then develop pilot projects and adapt the global best practices to the social, environmental and economic realities in the local context. Then we organize the methodology, resources, and tools to implement projects on the ground, documenting not just our direct impact, but the process for achieving sustainable, asset-based community development.
Scale Through Sharing
We scale three ways. The first is by equipping, inspiring, and training future global leaders within our international network. The second is through institution-institution strengthening by providing technical assistance, convening conferences, building associations, and co-developing direct implementation project stakeholders. Finally, we document our results and learnings and share our publications and experiences to strengthen the global network of practitioners and reach a broad audience.

Community Center for Adaptation to Climate Change at the San Pedro primary school in Bluefields, a space for learning and sharing of good practices in water, sanitation, and hygiene; food security; and renewable energy. The solar microgrid at the Wawashang Center for Environmental and Agroforestry Technical Education provides power to more than 35 buildings for 24 hours a day. The center, disconnected from the national power grid, is a technical career education center serving young people from all the communities of the South Caribbean.Biodigestor
Plant of 7 biodigesters at the Bluefields municipal slaughterhouse which contributes reduces energy consumption, eliminates byproduct runoff, and improves environmental conditions for those living near the slaughterhouse.Ecological Bathrooms
Integrated ecological bathroom system that contributes to health, hygiene, and sanitation in an environmentally friendly way. It is an integrated system which integrates a rainwater collection ssytem connected to a sink, showering facilities, and a gray water treatment system.Grey Water Treatment
Two grey water treatment systems, biojardinera and banana circles, are adapted for tropical and subtropical climates allowing gray water treatment, reduction of runoff rainwater, and healthy food harvesting. This system creates a microclimate environment and a drainage system with an absorption center for the water coming from the sink, shower, and kitchen, reducing the contamination of groundwater and soil.Green Islands Campaign

The bio-sand filter is produced locally by blueEnergy under the methodology and design of CAWST. This technology allows families to obtain healthy water to drink and is accessible, affordable, easy to use, and maintain.
